Attention: Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors!
Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona was chosen as one of FIVE councils nationwide to participate in GSUSA's pilot of a new older girl STEM Journey: "Think Like a Programmer," and we are looking for Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts to be part of the pilot! This Journey was designed in tandem with Code.org and is being funded by Raytheon. Through the Journey, girls will learn how to code and unleash their inner programming pro- no previous STEM experience necessary! By participating, you will get to share your opinion and thoughts on the Journey with GSUSA to help improve STEM curriculum for future Girl Scouts! GSSoAZ will be hosting two volunteer-lead Journey sessions for a group of older Girl Scouts at Angels Place For Girls. These sessions will be facilitated by the fabulous former Girl Scout leader and 30-year Raytheon employee, Sharon O'Neal. During her time at Raytheon, Sharon held numerous prestigious positions including Director of Software Engineering. She continues to share her passion for STEM by teaching at the U of A, and is eager to work on this brand-new STEM Journey with the Girl Scouts.
*This event includes two sessions, March 17th and March 31st. Girls must participate in both dates.
